Text Box: Grandparents.

Grandparents bestow upon their grandchildren
The strength and wisdom that time
And experience have given them.
Grandchildren bless their Grandparents
With a youthful vitality and innocence
That help them stay young at heart forever.
Together they create a chain of love
Linking the past with the future.
The chain may lengthen,
But it will never part...

Text Box: A wish for our Grandchildren

May the strength of the wind and the light of the sun,
The softness of the rain and the mystery of the moon
Reach you and fill you.
May beauty delight you and happiness uplift you,
May wonder fulfil you and love surround you.
May your step be steady and your arm be strong,
May your heart be peaceful and your word be true.
May you seek to learn, may you learn to live,
May you live to love, and may you love - always.
Text Box: It was Roman Catholic Cardinal Richard Cushing of Boston (b 1895-d 1970 ), who wrote this modem version of I Corinthians, 13.

Though I live in the most select neighbourhood and have all the latest mod-cons., without love I might as well dwell in a shack in the desert. I may well have wall to wall carpets in every room, the most fashionable drapes and suites in French brocades, but without love these are filthy rags. I may have colour TV and an automatic kitchen, but without love I am nothing.
Love is children’s fingerprints on newly-painted walls; a doormat used by welcome guests; armchairs well seated.
Love bears cheerfully teenager’s pin-ups on bedroom walls; tide marks around the bath,
Love is sad when the doorbell is silent; when the telephone does not ring; and when there is no-one with whom to share.
Love does not come to an end when mud is on the carpet; when father spills ink paint in the sink; or when the dog scratches the front door.
Bricks and mortar will one day be beyond repair; the gilt, chrome and polish will quickly vanish, gadgets will find their way into the bin.
But love goes on for ever; qualities not things remain.
Faith, Hope and Love, these qualities, but the greatest of these is love.

What I tell my children.

Life is over so quickly. Everybody is frightened of change but things are slowly changing around us all the time without us having any choice, so it’s best to be in control, don’t be afraid and make the decisions that can directly change your life for the better
